Pentose Pharmaceuticals was founded to discover, develop and commercialize antiviral products for medical use based on nucleic acid chemistry. The Company's first two product lines are PapirinesTM -- a family of antiviral pharmaceuticals including PEN203 -- and InactinesTM-- a group of virus-inactivating compounds including PEN103 and PEN113. These are proprietary technologies with near term commercial potential which have global application for the treatment of specific viral infections or for inactivating viruses in blood products and biopharmaceuticals. The Company's approach to virology is a distinct departure from previous antiviral methods. It is based on advanced understanding of the organic chemistry of nucleic acids, including research from the laboratories of world renowned nucleic acid chemist Dr. Edward I. Budowsky, scientific founder of Pentose.
Strategic partnering arrangements will be established to facilitate commercialization of major product opportunities.
Pentose Pharmaceuticals has exclusive worldwide rights to patents and patent applications covering InactinesTM and PapirinesTM technologies.
