Phytopharm specialises in the development and registration of 'Botanicals' as licensed medicines in both the human and animal markets. Phytopharm's business is to take both simple and complex mixtures derived from plant sources into full development. Such medicinal products are called Botanicals by the FDA. There is an increasing interest throughout the world in natural products and Phytopharm's Botanical products fall into this major market segment. The focus of the business is the development and registration of licensed medicines for human use. Such medicines may be marketed through doctors (prescription) or through pharmacies (OTC). There are substantial opportunities in the prescription and non-prescription sectors of the companion animal market. Phytopharm has no plans to directly commercialise any of its products, but is seeking partners who will market and sell its products as well as support development activities.
